Flushing Beach, a 5 minute walk away, is the ideal spot for a quiet dip or for clambering over rock pools on a late summer evening. Whilst Flushing pier is the place to sit and watch the boats bobbing on the water or for some late night crabbing.
Flushing has a growing reputation for great food, in part driven by the excellent Harbour House which sits across the road from no.five. Around the corner from Harbour House, on your way out of the village, the Royal Standard offers a more traditional Cornish pub experience with an excellent beer garden to catch the evening sun and views across the Fal. The Waterside, a seafood restaurant located on the pier, completes the trio of local food options.
In the same way that no.five seeks to balance the beautiful with the practical, Flushing village does the same. The Flushing Store, just a few doors down is a great local option for food essentials including wine and beer whilst perched on the top of the village is the Flushing Bowling Green which caters for little ones in need of some swing and slide action.
Venturing out of Flushing and there is much to see and do. The Flushing Ferry, which departs on a regular basis from Flushing pier, connects the village to the bustling town and high street of Falmouth. If driving across to Falmouth then the beaches of Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth should all be visited with Hooked on the Rocks overlooking Swanpool providing an excellent seafood menu.
Mylor is just a 30 minute coastal walk away (or a short drive) with Cafe Mylor a great spot for brunch and boat hire available from the harbour.
We believe that the places we stay should add to and amplify our experience of the places we visit and that it’s often the small moments that make a great holiday. It's this belief that has driven the approach to the design of no.five. The interior of the house has been carefully thought out and we have lovingly restored what was quite a tired fishing cottage that has stood here for hundreds of years.
